TOYOTA TUNDRA – A NOTORIOUS REPUTATION

The Toyota Tundra has a reputation: not only is it one of the most reputable & trustworthy light truck products on the market, the Tundra also comes with a glitch that becomes obvious when adjusting your ride height.

Have you figured out what that glitch might be? Unless you have astute visual perception or a vestibular system that can pick up the most subtle inconsistencies it might go undetected. A small experiment to help you out: take a tape measure or yard stick and measure from the bottom (6 O’clock) position of your wheel (not tire!) to the highest point of your fender. Do this for each wheel, and write down the result for each measurement.

A typical outcome would be:

1. Driver’s front => 32.375″
2. Passenger’s front => 31.75″
3. Driver’s rear => 34.0″
4. Passenger’s rear => 34.25″

Does anything strike you as odd when you go back and look at these numbers?

Bingo! Your Toyota Tundra ride height can vary wildly from wheel-to-wheel: it’s side-to-side front ride height has been known to vary by as much as 1.0″!
